The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Arzberg, in Germany's Wunsiedel district, is a landmark project in Europe's energy transition. With 100 MW installed capacity and 200 MWh storage capacity, the facility stabilizes the electricity grid and supports the integration of renewable energy sources. Using advanced lithium-ion technology, it stores excess renewable energy and releases it when needed, providing essential flexibility to the power network. Realized as the first project under the MW Storage Fund, launched in 2022, it was developed with Reichmuth Infrastructure as majority shareholder, alongside Bayernwerk and ZENOB as co-investors.
